3D modelling in Prefab Exhaust Systems Installations. BIM, key to success?
Jeremias Building Information Modeling BIM

The 3D design in new building construction projects is becoming a standard throughout all mechanical and electrical installation companies. Not only for public construction projects but also in projects where using the modern BIM 3D models allows the identification of any collision, reducing the complexity of the installations before the construction has even started.

In specific buildings like Data Centres the 3D modelling is a compulsory scope for the mechanical contractors, sometimes even before the project goes to tender. The advantage of providing a reality close modelling of the installation can be decisive to win a million valued contract. Most of the M&E contractors work with reliable partners that can assist in all project phases.

The material and equipment manufacturers that are able to provide the BIM models and those who provide the technical and design advise requested for complex buildings have a significant strategy advantage in this digitalised construction world.

The technical capability of modern manufacturers to supply not only the product itself, but the complete service related to a specific solution, provides a strategic advantage that strengths the relation between the manufacturer and the service installation company. The manufacturer is not seen as a simple member of the supply chain but as a reliable partner essential to complete the project; successfully, on time and according to budget.

But what about installations in existing buildings?

Only few companies are able to provide the certainty that the installation of the equipment will be done without any “unexpected onsite issue”, for instance; a collision with another mechanical installation or an owner who stops the works due to some aesthetic reasons.

The combination of virtual reality technologies and 3D design makes all these aspects possible therefore can be taken into account before performing the work and the installation team just concentrates in the job, not waste time in unexpected events and keep the costs down.

#Jeremias industrial group has implemented the BIM Revit design in 2015 being the first stainless steel Flue and Chimney manufacturer in the industry to provide in-house full technical and design support taking control of all phases of the product life; sizing, design manufacturing, and final installation. In 2019 Jeremias is able to integrate their designs into 3D models of existing buildings even before the installation is made. The guarantee that the job will be done according to the designs is granted.

JEREMIAS HELPS BIM DESIGNERS

The growing general use of BIM software for building and mainly for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) design have created a new need in the market to be filled by the manufacturers of products for these installations: the creation of BIM objects to be directly used in the design process of the projects.

Jeremias has taken this challenge as an opportunity to support the project developers to design the flue and chimney systems in the easiest possible way

Jeremias has, in a first step, implemented different systems into a BIM library using the Revit MEP from the Autodesk family.

and due to the characteristics of the flue and chimney systems (plenty of elements to be combined in every installation), Jeremias has in a second stage developed a full range of application tools that can be installed in the BIM software to create very fast automatic flue designs and obtain in the least time possible the whole design and bill of materials in any installation.

These add-in tools allow the user just to draw the path of the flue, select the system needed and automatically get the design and part list for the whole project, being also very fast and easy to do changes, include new items, change diameters, etc. in live design.

With this specific application for Chimney Design and Quotation the Jeremias group confirms the willing to support the consultants and contractors around the world with the best available tools in a more and more digitalised world and help them to match the increasing exigencies of the Building industry

Jeremias, quick, professional and reliable.
