William Wei Huang founded GDS in 2001 and serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company. GDS is a leading developer and operator of high-performance data centers in China.
As an entrepreneur with rich industry experience as well as strong leadership and management capability, William has led GDS with a 22-year track record of service delivery. Under his leadership, GDS has emerged as the largest carrier-neutral data center services provider in China, serving 830 customers.
With over 100 data centers strategically located throughout China and the SEA region, GDS offers outsourced data center services to hyperscale cloud service providers, large internet companies, financial institutions, telecommunications carriers, IT service providers, and large domestic private sector and multinational corporations.
On Nov 2nd, 2016, GDS was listed on Nasdaq. On Nov 2nd, 2020, GDS completed a secondary listing on HKEX, representing the benchmark of China’s data center industry.
Recognizing the potential for growth in Asia, William established GDS's overseas operations headquarters in Singapore in 2021. This move has allowed GDS to develop a strategic Southeast Asia strategy to better serve its clients and contribute to the region's digital economy ecosystem.
